Wonderful location, right on the border between the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Lake Windermere is a 35 minute drive; Ullswater, 25 minutes' drive, Hawes - in the Yorkshire Dales - is 30 minutes' drive; so many lovely places to visit.

Lace up your boots, pack a picnic and go off exploring along the glorious river, ancient woodland and high fells; gentle strolls on the lower levels and more challenging on the high fells, rarely meeting anyone else - and all straight from the door.

A lovely private garden surrounding the cottage, enclosed with stone walls, a pretty terrace with table and chairs for meals ‘al fresco’, overlooking the natural Lakeland waterfall.

“A great base for exploring the Dales and the Eastern Lake District. I did 2 wonderful sunny spring hillwalks from the doorstep and a further 3 within 40 mins by car. The cottage is exceedingly comfortable and a great blend of traditional decor and modern facilities, with highlights being the super comfortable bed, excellent new shower room and small but very well equipped kitchen. Thanks to Alexandra for the prompt response and short-notice booking, helpful instructions and extremely tasty cake, tea and coffee provided on arrival!”

“We stayed last minute over the Easter holiday weekend and it surpassed our expectations. Alexandra was super accommodating with check in and departure, the place was very easy to find (up the mountain and around a couple of tight bends!). The yard was pristine and we enjoyed having a bbq outside. The house itself was so cute and cozy. We had daily fires, plenty of tea and coffee for the whole stay, and a yummy cake on arrival. The house itself was perfectly located at the top of a hill overlooking a farm with little lambs and a clean river. We loved it! Did a walk up and down the hill every day with our dog! Would stay here again and again.”

Place was as described and more, and all the amenities described were handy.
The Bed was like sleeping in a cloud.. far too soft as we both suffer bad backs. But we still managed to rest so all good from us.
The location was perfect and the information pack in the cottage gives you great ideas.
Even with the weather the tie we visited 18-20c Alexandra put the heating on for Yanna who couldn’t get warm on the Sun.. it was not trouble for Alexandra. Great host, great location. We will most certainly return. Thanks Alexandra.”
